"Six Core Values of Sunday School" Taught to Russian Pastors this Spring

Six Core Values of Sunday School
by Allan Taylor
Translated for Russian pastors

Church growth in evangelical Christian churches in the former Soviet Union is in a dangerous decline. Because of the long history of atheism, legalism, and the heavy influence of Communism, Russian people struggle with concepts that American churches implement daily.

Most Pastors have no long-term strategy for reaching their community, teaching individual Bible studies that are pertinent to age groups, or ministering to families and individuals at the point of their need.

These Pastors are looking for a mechanism that can teach their people how to do ministry.

Their answer is simple. They need what we already know works: they need Sunday School.

1,000 Russian Pastors will meet us in Moscow to hear about Sunday School late this Spring!

The Evangelistic Association of Russia (T.E.A.R.) has already had Allan Taylor’s book translated into the Russian language…and we need your help to put one copy of his book into the hands of each of the 1,000 pastors at this meeting. Please consider your part in God’s exciting work!

Please contact TEAR if you would like to help by providing:

1 book $4.00
5 books $20.00
10 books $40.00
50 books $200.00
Or more!

Most of all, we covet your prayers.

1000 Russian Pastors to be trained in Moscow this Spring!

Building your Leadership Resume
by Johnny Hunt, translated for
Russian pastors

Most of the evangelical pastors in Russia have learned some hard lessons since before the fall of Communism in the early 1990’s. In spite of various forms of persecution of evangelical Christians in the former Soviet Union, many laypeople have seen and believed the Truth of Christ in that country.

Unfortunately, many who have the charge of leading these new converts have felt inadequate in their leadership skills. They have had to spend their energy on survival in the past; now they have more freedom to concentrate on discipling their flock, but they have no tools or prior knowledge on which to build.

Pastor Johnny Hunt’s book, Building Your Leadership Resume, has a unique and practical approach to helping others understand what makes a godly and effective leader. He uses both Biblical and personal examples to illustrate, among other things, how to lead by giving to others, serving others, and empowering others to do the same.

1,000 Russian Pastors will meet us in Moscow for a Leadership Conference late this Spring!

The Evangelistic Association of Russia (T.E.A.R.) is working to get Pastor Hunt’s book translated into the Russian language…and we need your help to put one hardbound copy of this book into the hands of each of the 1,000 pastors at this meeting -- plus thousands of others in the near future. Please consider your part in God’s exciting work!

Please contact TEAR if you would like to help by providing:

1 book $4.00
5 books $20.00
10 books $40.00
50 books $200.00

Congratulations to Dr. Williams!

Dr. Bill Williams, the founder of Suwanee Dental Care in Suwanee,Georgia has been instrumental in providing much needed dental care to our young visitors for the past two years.  Dr. Williams and his tremendous staff including Dr. Jeremy Smith and Dr. Blazej Golik as well as the many hygienists and assistants who work thoughtfully and tenderly with the children each year!

We are proud to offer our congratulations to Dr. Williams for receiving the Ron Lamb Award for his dedication to his missionary work.

The Executive Board and the Board of Directors of the Christian Dental Society have recognized Dr. Bill Williams' missionary achievement by presenting him with this year's Ron Lamb Award in San Diego, CA.

Dr. Williams and his wife, Sheila, were on mission in Kenya during this year's annual meeting of the Christian Dental Society and received their award in absentia.

Dr. Williams wishes to thank the Christian Dental Society for this distinguished award and to also thank the 20 something team members who travel with us each year to international destinations and make our missions so meaningful and successful as we teach the Gospel and heal the sick, build buildings and give hope to those less able.

Fantasies to Faith Art Contest

One of the many things that TEAR has done as a way to reach the orphans in Russia is to hold a Christmas Art contest for them. Each year, over 50,000 children from orphanages all across Russia participate! The top 10 winners of the contest win a trip to the United States to celebrate Christmas in the home of an American family.

The TEAR website reports that the top 150 paintings have been displayed in the Moscow Art Museum for several years. Their website also conveys that multiple orphanage directors have expressed a great improvement in the attitudes, behaviors, and even grades of the children who participate. They become motivated, experience a sense of purpose, and most importantly are in the Word of God in preparation for their project.

Each child must read the Bible for himself or herself to determine the true meaning of Christmas. They are then to create a painting and write a short essay explaining their artistic point of view of what they have learned.

The results have been astounding, to say the least.
